Function: Treatment of near-sightedness.
When treating high-grade near-sightedness, the Excimer-Laser-Klinik uses the
LASIK Method ('Laser in situ keratomileusis').
The procedure: 1. A corneal flap of approximately 160 µm is moved
aside using the microkeratom (micro scalpel). 2. The usual PRK method is applied within the corneal tissue
(stroma). 3. the corneal flap is moved back into place.
The advantage of this method is that the corneal surface is completely preserved.
This combined technology has been used for several years now and is especially
advisable for treating high-grade near-sightedness.
